These are the measures Hoardsy has in place, set out against the headings of the government’s Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. We publish them so you can check them.
Adults only
18+ in England, Scotland and Wales, age checked before the first deposit.
Your limits
Monthly spending limits from £0 and six-month self-exclusion.
Fair draws
Entries lock first, then a public random number picks the winner.
Free entry
Every competition by post, with the same chances as a paid ticket.
Who can take part
Hoardsy is for adults aged 18 or over in England, Scotland and Wales. You confirm your age when you sign up, and we check it once against public records before your first deposit. No documents are needed. If the check can’t confirm your age, deposits wait until our team has looked at it, and an account found to belong to someone under 18 is closed and its money refunded. Payment is by debit card only: Hoardsy does not accept credit cards.
Spending and self-exclusion
You can set a monthly spending limit at any time, including a limit of £0, and it applies across every competition. After your first paid entry we offer you a monthly limit. You can self-exclude for six months, which can’t be ended early, or close your account. While self-excluded you can’t enter or deposit, and we send you no marketing. See Play Responsibly.
Looking out for harm
From the day an account opens, our team sees a list of accounts showing signs of harm, such as repeat or large deposits, depositing after losing, a sudden spend spike and heavy play overnight. They can contact the player or restrict the account.
Where to get support
Play Responsibly links to GamCare and its National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133, any time), the NHS, Citizens Advice, the Money Advice Trust, National Debtline, Samaritans and Mind.
How each draw works
Every prize and chance, before you pay. Each competition shows its ticket price, ticket total and closing time. Instant entries lock when confirmed. A public drand round fixed at entry decides the result at least a second later. It’s saved before you reveal. End-draw entries are locked before the random number exists, and the winner comes from a public random number nobody at Hoardsy controls. Open Proof to check the public number and saved record. Once you reveal a ticket, Proof recalculates that result on your own device from the ticket’s key, straight away. The full replay of every ticket waits for the seed disclosed after the close. See the public record.
Instant wins and draws
We keep more prize draws open than instant win competitions, so instant wins are never the majority.
Free entry
Every competition can be entered free by post, with exactly the same chances as a paid ticket, including instant prizes. The route and address are on the free entry page and each competition page, before you buy. A letter only has to arrive before the published close.
Prizes
The advertised prize is always paid, or the cash alternative stated before you entered if you choose it. Prizes are never reduced because ticket sales are low, closing dates are never extended for slow sales, and competitions are never cancelled for slow sales. See prize delivery.
Advertising
Our ads and the creators we pay are for adults only. Creator posts must be labelled #ad, say 18+ and mention free postal entry, and at least 75% of a creator’s audience must be 18 or over. We never present a competition as a way out of money worries or as an income.
Complaints
Every complaint is logged, acknowledged within 2 business days, given a final response within 14 days and tracked in your Support thread until it is resolved. See the complaints procedure.
