Most legit competition sites: compare the evidence

Updated 17 October 2026 · 15 min read · By Hoardsy

Published by Hoardsy. Hoardsy is not ranked on this page. This is our comparison, with a declared method and dated links so you can challenge it. The comparison is a snapshot, not a live price feed. Last checked 17 October 2026.

The question “is this competition site legit?” needs several checks, not one badge or star rating. This ranking scores legal-operator identity, entry terms, result information and documented history. It is a comparison of available evidence, not a legal certification or a promise that every entry is safe.

How this ranking is scored

Named company identity and free entry information receive 20 points each. Closing terms, treatment of low sales, documented selection and dated public review records receive 15 each. Review stars and advertising rulings are material context to read separately, not numbers converted automatically into a trust percentage.

  • Named operator and company number, 20 points. Full points for a sourced operator name and company number; missing identity receives zero. A number stated in terms is distinguished in the evidence from an independently checked register record.
  • Free entry information, 20 points. Full points for a published postal route and explicit equal-chance treatment; half for a verified route without equal-chance wording established; zero for an unverified route. Postal processing and visual prominence have not been audited.
  • Closing-date certainty, 15 points. Full points for an explicit promise against extensions to sell more entries; half for a specified period with limited change provisions or countdown; zero where a commitment is unverified.
  • Treatment of low sales, 15 points. Full points only for an express commitment to award the prize or complete the draw regardless of sales. Zero for a shortfall clause or an unverified promise; the evidence distinguishes those cases.
  • Documented selection method, 15 points. Full points for a locked entry record, subsequent independently public randomness and a reproducible check; half for a named random method or independent judging; zero if unverified. Half points do not imply unfair selection.
  • Dated public review record, 15 points. Full points for a public review profile claimed at least five years ago; half for a verified shorter record; zero if unverified or prelaunch. Stars do not affect points. Profile age is not audited trading history or proof of prize payments.

Each contribution is shown beside its source in the table. Missing evidence earns zero for that test; it does not establish that a service is poor, unlawful or unavailable. Partial points follow the rule above. Scores are rounded to one decimal place, then added; equal totals are ordered alphabetically without implying a quality difference. A review profile’s age is not proof of trading duration or completed prize payments. These are editorial evidence scores, not consumer ratings, probabilities or a regulator’s approval.

Competition sites ranked on identity and operating evidence

All operators in the main comparison are eligible. Unknown evidence receives zero and remains labelled unknown. The method does not infer wrongdoing from missing information, nor does it treat the absence of a discovered ruling as proof that an operator has never had a problem.

Where Hoardsy stands on the same checks

We run Hoardsy, so it isn’t ranked or scored above. Here’s how it does on every check, with the source for each.

  • Named operator and company number: Hoardsy has not yet published a verified company registration in its authoritative operator record. Registration details remain unconfirmed. source (17 October 2026)
  • Free entry information: Free postal entry on every competition, with the same chance as a paid ticket. Postage costs money. source (17 October 2026)
  • Closing-date certainty: Published rules exclude extensions for slow sales; the stated closing date stands. source (17 October 2026)
  • Treatment of low sales: The published prize stands regardless of sales; there is no minimum-sales threshold. source (17 October 2026)
  • Documented selection method: The entry record locks before a later public drand value selects the end-draw winner. Published evidence lets a reader repeat the check. source (17 October 2026)
  • Dated public review record: New and prelaunch: no verified Trustpilot history or paid-winner total is claimed. source (17 October 2026)

Separate identity, rules and performance

Company identity, contractual promises and completed performance are separate checks. The table scores sourced company details and dated public review profiles separately. Profile age proves neither trading duration nor completed payments.

Find the legal operator

Compare the company name and number in the terms with the register. Similar names alone do not establish a match. Registration is not prize approval. Use the competition-site checks alongside these identity checks.

Read rulings in context

Read each ruling’s advertiser, date, advertisement and outcome. A historical finding concerns that promotion; “no ruling found” describes a search limit. Follow the ASA ruling sources and each operator’s detailed comparison.

Interpret reviews carefully

Read the score, review count and date together. Distinguish reviews about checkout or entertainment from completed prize payments. Review averages do not verify probabilities or selection methods. Keep unavailable figures unknown rather than copying an undated badge.

Check the complete entry promise

Save the prize description, closing date, entry limit, low-sales clause and winner-selection rules. Read the postal instructions and receiving deadline as carefully as the paid route. The postal entry guide covers Hoardsy; rivals have their own requirements.

Know what evidence to expect

Check how the result connects to valid entries: an entry list, external number, recording or judging record may answer different questions. A broadcast alone does not establish compliance with every term. Keep documents and use the operator’s complaint route for a specific discrepancy.

Treat new operators fairly

Hoardsy is prelaunch, with paid entry closed and no proven paid record. Inspect its instant game tables and Plinko explanation. Hoardsy is not ranked on this page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most legit competition site in the UK?

This ranks sourced identity, terms, selection and review records, not legal certification. Inspect the exact competition’s current rules before deciding.

Does a Companies House number prove a site is safe?

It identifies a registered company, not correct promotion delivery or guaranteed payment. Compare identity with contractual terms and completed performance.

Are high review scores enough to trust a competition site?

Read the score, count, date and experiences described. Review averages do not directly establish the odds, draw method or prize-payment record.

Does no ASA ruling found mean a clean record?

It describes the limits of the checked search, not a guarantee. Read any finding in its dated, promotion-specific context.

Can a prelaunch operator be compared honestly?

Yes. Keep disclosures separate from performance: score only what is published and checkable, and treat a missing paid record as zero rather than assuming one.

Hoardsy is 18+ and for residents of England, Scotland and Wales; check other operators’ own eligibility rules.
