BOTB review and alternatives

Updated 17 October 2026 · 10 min read · By Hoardsy

Publisher disclosure: Hoardsy writes this comparison and is not ranked, but it sits beside this site on the same checks. This is a review of published evidence, not a personal account of winning or an independent certification. Every factual observation links to its source and read date. Unknown means not established in this check; it does not mean a condition is missing or that an operator has failed it.

A useful BOTB review starts with the particular competition you are considering. The advertised prize, the method used to choose its winner and the cash offered instead are separate parts of that decision.

18+ · Great Britain readers. Check each operator’s geographical eligibility. Wherever paid entry is considered, also read the applicable free postal entry route below. Hoardsy’s route is at free postal entry.

Review focus: Match the competition format and the cash choice. Compare the ranked best competition sites and the scoring rules behind them.

Is BOTB legit? Start with the promoter

Company identity. Winvia Entertainment PLC, company 03755182; incorporated 20 April 1999. Incorporation is not a verified competition launch date. BOTB: company identity · checked 17 October 2026.

Operating history. Trustpilot profile claimed December 2015. This is a dated public review record; years trading and total prizes paid have not been independently verified. BOTB: operating history · checked 17 October 2026.

A registration identifies an entity. It does not prove the outcome of an individual competition or establish that a prize has been delivered. Keep identity, contract terms, customer feedback and result evidence as separate checks. Where a registry was not independently verified, the observation says so.

Compare the actual cash figure

A percentage of a vehicle’s retail price is different from the same percentage of money collected from entrants. The first can be calculated from a stated valuation; the second changes as entries arrive. Read the cash-alternative wording below with the individual prize listing, and write down the sum you would receive. Do not compare a car’s headline retail value on one site with a smaller cash option on another as though they were identical prizes.

For a vehicle you would actually keep, condition, specification, delivery and running costs matter too. For a vehicle you would immediately exchange for money, use the confirmed cash amount in your comparison. A choice only becomes useful when its amount, availability and deadline are clear before entry. A general terms page can set the default while the individual competition supplies a different figure.

Keep each winner-selection method separate

Check whether your chosen promotion uses a judged task, a random draw or an instant result. An entry in one format cannot be compared with another by ticket price alone. If judgement determines the outcome, a ticket cap does not produce the same simple chance calculation as an equal-chance random draw. If a random draw is used, ask for its eligible entry total and the method that links the selected number to a particular entrant.

Watch for explanations that describe the brand as a whole while the rules describe only one competition. The most useful evidence is the rule that applies to the exact event you are considering, followed by its published result. Save both. A recording can show what happened during a selection, while a reproducible calculation answers a different question: whether the same inputs produce the recorded winner.

Read closing powers in context

A power to change a competition when it cannot run as planned needs to be read alongside its reason, notice requirements and refund provisions. It should not be silently translated into either an unconditional fixed-date promise or proof that dates will move. The comparison below preserves the actual wording and marks anything not established by the checked material.

Postal instructions also need to match the selected competition. Find the applicable route, required details, arrival deadline and any limit on entries before posting. Where several products share one website, a route described for one promotion should not be assumed to cover every other promotion. Review the event rules again if the competition type changes.

Closing date, minimum sales and cash alternative

Closing-date condition. Clause 11.9 permits an extension if the competition cannot run as planned, including disruption beyond reasonable control. not capable of running as planned BOTB: closing-date condition · checked 17 October 2026.

Minimum-sales condition. An express promise to award the same prize regardless of ticket sales was not verified in these terms. BOTB: minimum-sales condition · checked 17 October 2026.

Cash alternative. Normally 70% of the UK retail value, rounded to the nearest £1,000, unless the competition rules provide otherwise (13.12). BOTB: cash alternative · checked 17 October 2026.

Entry price and free postal entry

Price observation. A comparable current paid-ticket price range was not verified. Subscription prices are not treated as individual-ticket prices. BOTB: price observation · checked 17 October 2026.

Free postal route. Postal entry applies to designated competitions, with one entry per postcard and equal chance for eligible entries; routes differ by format. BOTB: free postal route · checked 17 October 2026.

Any observed price is a dated example or range, not a promise that every current competition has that price. For paid entry, compare the total price with the free postal route’s instructions and arrival deadline. Read the event’s eligibility and entry limit before choosing either route.

How winners are selected and prizes delivered

Draw method. Spot the Ball uses independent judging; other products use the random-selection arrangements in their own rules. BOTB: draw method · checked 17 October 2026.

Published chances. The flagship Spot the Ball product is judged on skill and is not a uniform random one-in-N draw. A comparable numeric chance across the sampled formats was not established. BOTB: published chances · checked 17 October 2026.

Instant-result format. Instant-win products are listed alongside the judged car competition and other draws. BOTB: instant-result format · checked 17 October 2026.

Prize fulfilment. Some new cars may take 12 months or longer under 13.7. This is not a universal cash-payment deadline. BOTB: prize fulfilment · checked 17 October 2026.

Trustpilot and ASA: dated observations

Trustpilot observation. 4.0/5 from 11,560 Trustpilot reviews in this dated snapshot. Review scores describe customer feedback, not audited chances or prize payments. BOTB: trustpilot observation · checked 17 October 2026.

ASA record. A complete ASA ruling record has not been verified. This is not a statement that there are no rulings; search the advertiser and trading names. BOTB: asa record · checked 17 October 2026.

A public review score reflects the reviews behind it at the observation time. It does not measure the chance of winning or independently verify a draw. An ASA decision concerns specified advertising and dates. An unverified ASA search is not evidence that no ruling exists, and a historic decision does not establish today’s terms.
