Won a prize and heard nothing? The ASA’s advice gives a clear yardstick, and it applies to every UK promotion.
What the ASA says
- “Prizes must be awarded as described, or a reasonable equivalent.”
- Winners should usually receive prizes within 30 days. If the prize will arrive more than 30 days after the closing date, the promotion should say so.
- Promoters must make all reasonable efforts to contact winners.
- “Promoters are responsible for the administration of their prize draws”, including proper supervision and “adequate time for each stage of the promotion”.

When it goes wrong
In 2025 the ASA upheld a complaint where a £3,000 holiday voucher was never awarded because ticket sales would not cover its cost. See the Amazing Giveaways ruling.
What to do if a prize doesn’t arrive
- Keep the confirmation and the terms as they were when you entered.
- Ask the site in writing for a delivery date.
- If it stays silent, complain to the ASA about the promotion.
Hoardsy pays withdrawals and delivers prizes within 1 to 5 working days. See cash alternatives explained.
How Hoardsy runs its competitions
- Closing dates are never extended for slow sales.
- There’s no minimum number of sales: every end-draw prize and top instant prize is awarded, sold out or not.
- Every competition page shows its prizes and your chance per ticket before you enter.
- Every competition can be entered free by post, with the same chances as a paid ticket. See free postal entry.
